Word Rhythm: Igbo + KJV is a free, offline Bible that carries two texts: the Biblica Open Igbo Contemporary Bible (OICB) and the King James Version. Not two apps, not two tabs — two translations placed against each other, verse by verse.

For anyone who reads Igbo at home and studies in English, or who wants to see how a familiar verse reads in both: one setting decides which text you see, and every screen follows that decision.

Everything inside

Two texts, one screen

  • Four display modes: Igbo only, KJV only, Igbo first, KJV first
  • Switch modes from the reading menu — the choice is remembered and applied everywhere
  • Bilingual modes stack the two texts in portrait: primary translation first, the other below it
  • On tablets, landscape phones and unfolded foldables the two texts can sit side by side in parallel columns, and you can swap which one is on the left
  • Highlights, notes, bookmarks, favourites and search results all render in the mode you chose
  • Reading plans follow the same rule — a plan’s chapters look like the reader, not a third style

Red letter from the Igbo text itself

The words of Christ are red in the KJV, and independently marked in the Igbo text — the Igbo spans come from the translation’s own speaker markers, verse by verse, not copied from the KJV’s character positions, which point at different words in a different language.

  • 2,038 Igbo verses carry the red letter; 1,414 of them are marked whole
  • In parallel columns each column is coloured from its own data, so a KJV range can never bleed into an Igbo line

The whole Bible, offline

  • All 66 books in both translations, stored on your device
  • Every one of the 31,102 KJV verses has its Igbo text — no gaps, no placeholders
  • Nothing to download, nothing to sign in to, no connection required — read on a plane, underground, or with no airtime

Search that forgives missing diacritics

  • Type plain “uwa” and find “ụwa”, “Jisos” and find “Jisọs” — underdots are optional
  • Combine words with AND, OR, NOT and NEAR, or search an exact phrase
  • Results render in your display mode, red letter included

Read, study, keep

  • Highlights, bookmarks, notes and tags — each entry follows your display mode
  • Verse memorisation with typed and blanked practice
  • Daily reading plans, from a book at a time to the whole Bible
  • Devotional cards: a short message, a reflection and a guided prayer
  • Find Scripture by feeling, by life situation, by topic, or from the 100 most-searched verses

Share it as text, a picture, or a video

  • Send a verse as text, as an image card, or as a short video in your own setting
  • Choose either translation or both — the display mode travels with the share
  • Every Igbo share carries the attribution its licence requires
  • Four home-screen widgets: today’s verse in light and dark, top verses, a take-a-break card, and a “how are you feeling” shortcut

Listen — read-aloud

  • Text-to-speech playback of the passage you are reading, with your device’s voices
  • The KJV reads with an English voice; Igbo playback depends on whether your device offers an Igbo voice — where it does not, the app does not pretend to

Free, with ads

  • Free to read, supported by ads
  • Longer devotional collections can open for one day after a short rewarded ad — optional, and never required for Bible reading, search or sharing
  • Analytics and crash reports are opt-in and stay off until you agree
  • Highlights, notes and plans are stored only on your device

What stays in English

The app interface is English, and so are devotional reflections and reading-plan notes. That is a deliberate editorial decision while the Igbo devotional corpus is being prepared, not a missing translation.

Two translations, one screen — and after the first launch, no connection needed.
