Louis Segond 1910 (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

a) Reading Data (Local Storage & Backup)

The App stores reading progress, bookmarks, favorites, notes, and user preferences locally on your device.

If you choose to enable backup, this data is saved to your personal Google Drive account using the Google Drive AppData folder (drive.appdata scope).

The App:

  • Only accesses its own AppData folder.
  • Cannot view or access other files in your Google Drive.
  • Does not modify any unrelated files.

Backup data remains under your control within your Google account. If you never enable backup, none of this data leaves your device.

b) Analytics & Crash Reporting

The App uses Google Firebase to improve stability and user experience.

  • Usage Analytics (Firebase Analytics): Collects anonymous data about how you interact with the app (e.g., screens visited, features used). This helps us understand usage trends and improve the app.
  • Crash Reports (Firebase Crashlytics): Automatically collects anonymous reports when the app crashes, including stack traces and device state information, to help us fix bugs.

In builds that offer it, you can turn these off in Settings > About.

c) Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Ads allow us to offer the App for free.

AdMob may automatically collect certain information — in both current and future versions of the App — to serve and measure ads, including:

  • Advertising ID (e.g., GAID)
  • Approximate (coarse) location, derived from sources such as your IP address or nearby network information
  • Device information (model, operating system, language, screen size)
  • IP address
  • App usage and interaction data

Future versions of the App may continue to share coarse (approximate) location with AdMob, alongside the information listed above. We update this policy and the app’s Google Play Data safety disclosure before any new category of information is collected.

This information is used to provide personalized or non-personalized advertisements in accordance with Google’s policies and your consent choices (managed via Google’s User Messaging Platform where required).

d) In-App Purchases

Where the App offers in-app purchases (e.g., “Remove Ads”), they are processed by Google Play Billing.

We do not collect or store payment information. All transactions are securely handled by Google Play.

4. Your Choices & Controls

We believe you should control your data:

  • Usage Analytics / Crash Reports: Toggle on or off in Settings > About, where the build provides that option.
  • Advertising Privacy:
    • GDPR/UK users: Use the “Privacy Options” menu in Settings to manage consent for ad personalization.
    • All users: Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via your device system settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
  • Google Drive access: Revoke the App’s Drive access at any time through your Google Account permissions.
  • Local data: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect user data.

  • Local data is stored in the app’s private sandbox.
  • Backup data is stored in your own Google Drive AppData folder and is not publicly accessible.
  • Analytics and crash data are transmitted securely (HTTPS) and are anonymized.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by revising the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy.
